On September
13-14, TCMA members arrived in Tyler to participate
in our annual meeting after not meeting in person
for a year and a half. On the evening of the 13th,
we met at an old favorite venue, the Villa Montez,
for renewed fellowship and a preconference
reception.

The next day began
with excellent programming to address our current
industry position. Jeet Radia of McWane Inc. and
noted EHS authority brought the membership up to
date on existing and pending regulations affecting
the metal casting industry. U.S. Representative
Louie Gohmert of the First Congressional District
and well-known media figure apprised us of the
continuing turmoil in Washington and the legislation
being debated. Inserting anecdotes regarding some
politicians, Representative Gohmert brought home
some of the very serious implications of this
severely divided congress. Louie, as Representative
Gohmert prefers to be addressed, fielded a number of
questions from our members regarding labor shortage
and immigration.
Our luncheon speaker, Aaron Cox of the Texas
Association of Business, gave us a recap of the
recent special session of the legislature, namely
the voter integrity issue. With another special
session starting the following week, Aaron said the
TAB would closely follow the progress of the events
and keep the membership updated.
The closing event of the annual meeting was a tour
at the Kiepersol Winery and Distillery followed by
dinner at their celebrated restaurant. This
gathering of friends and associates was a fitting
conclusion to a busy and informative day. |
